Abstract

This study emphasizes the need to integrate digital technologies to create sustainable sea use and contribute to the blue economy in the maritime sector. The paper examines the potential of Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and the Internet of Things to enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental footprint. It also addresses evolving governance and law, including how existing systems address new issues such as cross-border data transfer and autonomous shipping. This paper aims to raise awareness of policy, technology, and sustainability, and to offer a way forward for the future of marine energy and environmental protection in China. The study contributes to the international law literature in the Atlantic, and to the offshore industry, particularly regarding the use of digital technology. It offers policy recommendations on cooperation and on supporting legal access governance of technological advances. Therefore, this paper emphasizes the importance of national law to keep pace with the rapid development of marine technologies and international cooperation to manage marine resources sustainably.
